Scott Northcutt selected as 2002 COMM Distinguished Alum

EKU's Department of Communication's 2002 distinguished alum is Mr. Scott Northcutt. Mr. Northcutt was honored during a presentation on Friday, March 22, 2002, at the annual College of Business and Technology Professional Skills Conference senior recognition luncheon.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Scott Northcutt has been instrumental in the growth and success of Dollar General Corp., which he has served as vice president of human resources since 1992. Previously, he was director of training and development and director of human resources for the company, which operates more than 1,600 stores committed to serving the low and low-middle income customers. Prior to joining Dollar General, he was with Begley Company for 2 1/2 years. The Nashville, Tenn., resident earned a bachelor's degree in speech communication from EKU and is also a member of the Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2001-02 academic year were recognized. Students were honored for outstanding achievement and more than 40 area employers were on hand to engage in networking activities with college graduating seniors.
