Robles Receives 2018 Business Communication Impact Award
Dr. Marcel Robles received the 2018 Business Communication Impact Award at the Association for Business Communication Conference in Miami. The award is sponsored by the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and includes a plaque and a cash award.
Robles’ article, entitled Executive Perceptions of the Top 10 Soft Skills Needed in Today’s Workplace, was published in December 2012 in the Business and Professional Communication Quarterly.
The selection process involves examining citations in the following top business communication journals: Management Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Business Communication, Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, and Journal of Business and Technical Communication.
Dr. Peter Cardon, Business Professor from USC and Chair of the Award Selection Committee, said, “The award goes to the business communication article with the most citations over the past five years. Most years, it is a very close race. Dr. Robles’ article had over 500 citations, more than twice as many as the next closest business communication article. Fantastic work!”
Currently, Dr. Robles’ publication has 584 citations and 21,833 reads. She is now working on a follow-up article regarding soft skills in the workplace.
