EKU Athlete and Scholar Graduates with Plans to Become Veterinarian
Each semester leading up to commencement, graduating seniors from the College of Business and Technology are encouraged to apply for the honor of being the student commencement speaker on behalf of the college. Because there were so many outstanding applicants this spring, the College of Business and Technology would like to showcase a few of these students and their EKU experiences.
Lauren Ossege, Agriculture major with a concentration in Pre-Veterinarian studies has stayed very involved while at EKU and maintained a GPA of 3.75. From Fort Thomas, Kentucky - Ossege said she chose to make the move to Richmond after the first moment she stepped on campus stating EKU felt like her home away from home.
In addition to pursuing a degree, Ossege participated as a student athlete on both the Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor track teams as well as being involved in three honor societies (i.e., Omicron Delta Kappa Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Delta Tau Alpha Honor Society). Also, Ossege maintained a part time job as a Kennel Technician at Barnes Mill Animal Hospital.
Growing up, Ossege always knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian and her vast experiences at EKU have helped her get one giant step closer to that dream. Her time at EKU has helped her to become more comfortable in new situations as well as flourish while being away from home. Upon graduation, Ossege plans to eventually go to Veterinarian school with hopes to one day become a small-animal veterinarian.
